you unavoidably imply, and nigh declare outright that you can speak authoritatively for what Aaron’s opinion would be of “AI” companies slurping up books, regardless of authors’ wishes.
sigh Aaron believed in open access to knowledge for everyone.
That’s what it means, if I have no right to object—notwithstanding your demonstrated history of misappropriating others’ names to drive your “AI” agenda. Also thus, you unavoidably imply that Aaron would approve of how you responded to me on his behalf.
Aaron had zero qualms calling out people who disagreed with him. He was somewhat famous for his somewhat cantankerous responses to people who said stupid shit to him.
As such, for Aaron’s sake, would you please set the record straight to Bruce Schneier and J. B. Branch, whom I cited and quoted—and to the editor of the San Francisco Chronicle, which ran that Schneier and Branch piece (2026-01-14) essentially speaking for Aaron against “AI” corporate capture of knowledge?
Why would I do that when I absolutely agree with Schneier and Branch, as would Aaron?
The problem is you falsely imply what you think I said, which is wholly different than what I did say.
This is why I called bullshit on you.
At no point have I said I approve of corporate capture of knowledge. Literally the opposite has always been my point. The point I did make was not in favor of the corporate capture, but that to free all knowledge that means that the authors don’t get to control how a work is read, perceived, and built on BY ANYONE.
Otherwise, we absolutely DO end up with corporate capture, because you end up in a world where only big companies who can afford to pay off authors get access to their knowledge.
This is obviously what I said if you had an ounce of reading comprehension.
For my own part, Mike Masnick, I’ve had to start keeping a list of your deceptive statements, and even your outright falsehoods to propagandize for “AI”. Accordingly, I think I’m well-guided in general to take your statements under advisement—and with a grain of salt.
You truly have become our dumbest commenter. Keep whatever logs of what I say that you want. My record is completely public. That you have zero reading comprehension and believe I say and believe things I absolutely do not is a YOU problem.
