Timeline

The following is a recitation of facts as I observed them—mostly supported by a third-party archiver. I do not suggest any inferences for the reader to draw.

  1. : I began a critique to which Mike Manick had a vitriolic response.
  2. 2026-09-12 to at least : I observed that the thread was unhidden on the Open Web—with each and every comment hyperlinkable and fully accessible to archivers, search engines, and users without JavaScript.
  3. The last third-party archival snapshot with the unhidden thread was at .
  4. At , I posted a comment. However, it was initially invisible to the public and to me—with no moderation message; it is what I call “vanished” status. This comment was not visible in the third-party archiver’s snapshot at , and it was not visible to me when I checked at
  5. , Mike Masnick posted a comment.
  6. Just before , I observed that my initial 2026-09-12 comment with all replies was now hidden with a message stating that it was “flagged by the community”. I captured a third-party snapshot with the stated timestamp.

Thereupon, I immediately began to plan this website as an independent means to restore the discussion to the Open Web. Due to various delays, it took me about two days to put together.
